What is the Micro Entrepreneur Training and Support Program?

This program helps start-up young micro businesses in targeted Twin Cities neighborhoods, obtain business training, financing, and other support within your own community. In South Minneapolis, the program is operated by the Bii Gii Wiin Community Development Loan Fund in partnership with Neighborhood Development Center (NDC).

Since 1993, NDC and its’ partners have trained more than 4,000 entrepreneurs. Program graduates operate successful businesses in child care, graphic design, catering, landscaping, translation, auto repair, and many other industries.

BUSINESS TRAINING

Goal of Training

  • To develop a strong understanding of small business management
  • To complete a solid business and financial plan

Type of Training

  • Classes, workshops, and one-on-one sessions are taught by experienced small business instructors
  • Class size of 8–12 students ensures all participants receive personal attention
  • Topics covered include; operations management, marketing, financial management, and more. Course content and pace are customized to entrepreneurs’ needs.

Training Schedule

  • Classes are held one evening a week in South Minneapolis
  • Training consists of 11 classroom sessions and 10 hours of individual consultation

Program Cost

  • Program fees are determined on a sliding scale and case-to-case basis
  • Fees can be arranged into a payment plan
  • Scholarships may be available

ABOUT Bii Gii Wiin

Bii Gii Wiin means, "Coming Home" in the Ojibwe language.

Mission

The mission of Bii Gii Wiin CDLF is to promote home ownership among Native American households throughout the State of Minnesota through the provision of development services and financial products and service.

All services and products to be developed will ensure that Native home buyers are knowledgeable and financially capable of purchasing a home.
